1942 Joint Strike – Game Review

image

YES YES YES….its 1990 all over again, sitting in my bedroom with my dad playing this game, occasionally throwing a controller at the Nintendo because we kept dying!  When I heard that they released this game via PSN network download for $9.99 I was all over it.  The only thing I had to do was finish my final for school first before playing this game!

Graphics have obviously been updated and the weapons and the basis of the game stays the same, go back and forth and shoot everything without dying.  Once I realized there are a few other weapons other than just the guns I got a whole lot further.  Also love the ability to drop a bomb and kill everyone on the screen.  This game has lots of hours of play behind it and sticks to the arcade idea that when you die you have to start all over again regardless of the level you make it to.  That makes you hone in on your skills quickly so you can stay alive.  I would suggest this game to anyone who likes the arcade shooting style and something fun that lots of people can play with little skills required.

New Launchy Skin

image New job, new laptop, time for a new Launchy skin.  After finally gaining admin access to my laptop I was able to get my applications loaded to help me work faster.  Its amazing how used to Launchy I had gotten and how much I missed it.  But good news, I got it installed and everything is working great with this new sharp theme.  I found it the same place I posted before from DeviantArt.com

Check out the theme.

LG Dare Phone Wallpapers

imageSo after playing around with my phone I quickly wanted to change the desktop background.  I tried taking a picture of what I wanted from a computer and that has worked well for me in the past.  But because the resolution on this phone’s camera is 3.2 megapixels the pictures didn’t quite come out right.

So I went to search handy dandy Google website and looked up what screen resolution I needed to have the picture set to in order to not distort it on the screen.  While I was search I found something even better.  The directions on the website say you need a picture with the resolution of 240X400 for no distortion.  Then the forum goes on for currently 78 pages and has a ton of pictures both animated and still that you can download, copy to the SD Mini card, and put on your phone as the background.  There are some really cool ones and I took a bunch expecting that I will probably rotate images a lot.

LG Dare Phone

image

I just recently bought the new LG Dare phone.  With my new job I was not able to check email or be on IM so I decided that would be the deciding factor between getting this or a regular phone.

I read a bunch of reviews about the phone because Laura was the first to bring it up.  They are referring to it as the iClone.  While its not quiet the iPhone, and the browser leaves a little to be desired and doesn’t support JavaScript it certainly gets the job done.  I picked up a 4GB SD Mini card at Microcenter and plugged it in for a little extra capacity.  Also the benefit of doing this is I can load content easily to the phone by taking out the SD card and putting it into a laptop and loading information then putting it back on the camera. A really nice thing about this phone is it has a 3.2 Megapixel camera which is super nice.  It has a virtual QWERTY keyboard which is super easy to use and I like it better than the iTouch keyboard.  It has a little forced feedback as you press the keys.  The only issues I seem to have with this phone are when I try to scroll a webpage or list it seems to have a few issues, but I am sure that is more user error than anything.

I have high expectations for the phone as LG hasn’t let me down to date as this is my 3rd LG phone.  Form factor is great and phone is easy to hold

Google Calendar Redesign

image The same people who redid the Gmail front end have also decided to go out and redo Google Calendar as well.  This color scheme follows the same design cues as the Gmail version.

Nyko Charge Base 2

image So I just purchased the Nyko Charge Base 2.  This allows you to charge your PS3 remotes without having to use a USB port on the PS3 and the main reason I got it is because it charges using an AC adapter.  This is nice because then you do not have to leave your PS3 on to charge your controllers.

The unit is well designed and comes with little dongles that you see in the bottom right of the picture.  You plug that dongle into the USB port on the remote and then you can just place the remote up-side-down into the charger.  The LED’s indicate if its charging are done, Red means charging Green means done.  It takes 2 hours to fully charge the remotes.  This will be a nice add-on to my PS3 so that I can make sure my remotes are fully charged, nothing worse then running out of power when you are playing.  Especially since I only have one DualShock Controller while the other two are not.

I bought mine at Microcenter because by the time shipping and handling was done from the Internet it was the same price.  Plus nothing like instant gratification!
